Contractors in Fl - note new EPA regulations

New EPA regulation will affect anyone who is considering renovating a house or child care facility more than 2 square feet of interior painted surface built prior to 1978. This new requirement will affect,residential contractors, homeowners, property investors,maintenance personnel and all special trade contractors.

Contractors who perform renovation repairs, and painting on any residential building or commercial child care facility which disturbs more than 2 square feet of interior painted surface and 20 square feet of exterior painted surface are required to leave a copy of EPA "Renovate Right" with homeowner and obtain a receipt which has to be retained for 3 years in addition the contractor has to be a HUD approved "certified renovator".

Abatement services can only be provided by certified contractor firms with certified contractors.If a contractor offers renovation or remodelling services it is imperative that he/she takes immediate steps to be certified.
